For the new startup Big Rat Productions, based in NYC, I designed a gritty, illustrative brand identity that captures the raw, industrial energy of the city’s film and television industry. The visual strategy leans heavily into the underground creative culture of New York, moving away from clean, corporate minimalism in favor of a look that feels alive and unpolished. By combining rough textures with a bold aesthetic, the identity honors the behind-the-scenes hustle of independent filmmaking. This foundational direction sets the stage for a memorable brand presence that feels both deeply rooted in the city and distinctly professional.
Centered around a hand-drawn mascot of a rat operating a vintage cinema camera, the logo utilizes a distressed, woodblock-style typeface (also hand-drawn) to evoke a sense of tactile, DIY craftsmanship. It comes in 4 distinct layouts for complex and different applications.
Expanding the brand's identity into networking tools, these cards feature a deep green backdrop styled with a creative nod to vintage movie film textures. By balancing corporate networking with artistic execution, the layout establishes an immediate connection to classic filmmaking history while maintaining a premium, professional feel.
Designed as a mobile marketing tool for the production startup, these bold, high-contrast die-cut stickers turn the central illustration into eye-catching merchandise. The layout transforms the custom camera-operator mascot into a versatile, high-visibility asset perfect for branding laptops, tech gear, and on-set equipment cases.
